ORION
The debut novel by Shane Cowden
After returning from war, Jason—known as Orion—retreats to the isolated Alaskan wilderness in search of peace.
Instead, isolation forces him to confront the memories, guilt, and inner voice he has spent years trying to escape.
As the wilderness closes in and the line between trauma and reality begins to blur, Jason must face the most dangerous enemy he has ever known: himself.

"This was an extremely well written book, with vivid descriptions and a gripping storyline. It is not my normal genre so took a bit to get into it, but once I got past a few chapters, I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book. Well done!"

"I was encouraged to read this book which is normally not a genre I would be drawn to myself, but was quickly drawn in with what can only be described as a divine craftsmanship of a writing style. It is maturely seasoned and eloquently expressed by an author of true talent. I loved the multiple timelines that carefully laid out tiny nuggets of information and brought the present time into full view for the reader and the relationship with Greek mythology was so beautifully represented and sprinkled throughout the story in a relative and meaningful way. Lastly, the representation of the physical manifestations of mental illness in a real vs. imagined ultimately questioning the divinity of our spiritual existence was phenomenally portrayed."
